What is tumor breast?

A tumor is a mass of abnormal tissue. There are two types of breast tumor that are those that are non-cancerous or benign and those that are cancerous which are malignant. If the people have benign tumor of breast then doctors will leave it alone rather than remove it. This tumor is not generally aggressive towards surrounding tissue, occasionally they may continue to growth, pressing on organs and causing pain or other problems. Besides that, the tumor is removed, allowing pain or complication to subside. If the people have malignant tumor of breast then the doctor will perform a biopsy to determine the severity or aggressiveness of the tumor. Malignant tumor is cancerous and aggressive because they invade and damage surrounding tissue.

What is Breast Tumor Risk Factor?

Breast cancer or tumor is the number one killing disease for women. Women have a higher risk to get the breast tumor than men. Women’s breast development takes 3 to 4 years and is usually complete by age 14. Most of the male breast are fat and not formed glands. Women’s breast cells are very responsive to estrogen and other hormones including hormones disrupters in the environment. Men’s breast cells are inactive and most men have extremely low levels of estrogen. There are several risk factor of breast tumor:

    • Age

The risk factor increase when the people get older. About two out of three invasive breast tumors are found in women in range of 55 or older.

    • Family History

If the women who have close relatives who have been diagnosed with breast tumor have a higher risk of developing the disease. If the people had one first degree female relative such as sister, mother and daughter diagnosed with breast tumor, the risk is doubled.

    • Personal History of Breast Cancer

If the people have been diagnosed with breast tumor there are 3 to 4 times more likely to develop a new tumor in the other breast or a different part of the same breast. This risk is different from the risk of the original tumor coming back.

    • Certain Breast Changes

It will increase the possibility to get the breast tumor if people have been diagnosed with certain benign breast condition.

    • Race/Ethnicity

The white women are slightly more to develop breast tumor than African, American, Hispanic and Asian women. Otherwise, African American women are more likely to develop more aggressive, more advanced stage breast tumor that is diagnosed at a young age.

    • Being Overweight

Overweight can increase the risk of the breast tumor coming back (recurrence) in women who have had the disease. There is higher risk for the obese women to be diagnosed breast tumor compared to women who maintain a healthy weight.

    • Menstrual History

Usually the people who started menstruating (having periods) younger than age 12 and the women who go through menopause when they are older than 55 having a higher risk of breast tumor.

    • Drinking Alcohol

Drinking alcoholic beverages such as beer, wine, and liquor will increase a woman’s risk of hormone receptor positive breast tumor.

    • Lack of Exercise

Exercise consumes and controls blood sugar and limit blood levels of insulin growth factor, a hormone that can effect for breast cells grow and behave. It is more likely to maintain healthy weight and have little or no excess fat compared to people who do not exercise. Other than that, fat cells make estrogen and extra fat cells make extra estrogen. Besides, when the breast cell is exposed to extra estrogen over time, the risk of developing breast tumor is higher.

    • Smoking

Smoking causes a number of diseases and is linked to a higher risk of breast tumor in younger, premenopausal women. They may be linked between very heavy second-hand smoke exposure and breast tumor risk in postmenopausal women.
